Application Process

Concordia students can apply for the Nursing Program during the second semester of their sophomore year, after speaking to their College of Science academic advisor.

Transfer students must complete the following steps:

  1. Complete the Application for Undergraduate Admission for Concordia University Texas online, including the $25 application fee.  Admission to Concordia University does not guarantee admission to the Concordia University Nursing Program.
  2. Submit official copy of college transcripts to: Office of Admissions, Concordia University Texas, 11400 Concordia University Drive, Austin, TX 78726. We must have a transcript for every college you have attended. Please request immediately as it may take up to six weeks for transcripts to be sent. If any transcripts are from a foreign institution, an official AACRAO Foreign Education Credential Service evaluation must be completed and included in the Supplemental Nursing Application Packet. When you provide an official AACRAO Foreign Education Credential Service evaluation, your original transcript is not required. For more information please visit the AACRAO website. Please note: This process could take several weeks.
  3. Once accepted to the university, your Transfer Admissions Counselor will evaluate your previous coursework. If you are in the final semester of completing nursing prerequisite course requirements, or have completed them, your Transfer Admissions Counselor will give you the link to the Nursing Program Online Application. The nursing application should be completed online. The personal essay and three letters of recommendation should be emailed to nancy.linenschmidt@concordia.edu, faxed to 512-313-2514, or mailed to the Nursing Program: Attention Nancy Linenschmidt, Concordia University Texas, 11400 Concordia University Drive, Austin, TX 78726

Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS V)

Preparing for the TEAS V

Preparing for the TEAS V is very important. Nursing research tells us that applicants scoring high on pre-nursing standardized tests are quite likely to be successful in nursing school. The Concordia BSN program strongly encourages applicants to order the study manual and take the two practice exams described at http://www.atitesting.com/Solutions/PreNursingSchool/TEAS.aspx. Applicants will find:

  • Learning Strategies: Your Guide to Classroom and Test-Taking Success
  • TEAS V Study Guide ($46 + Shipping & Handling)
  • TEAS Online Practice Assessments ($39 each; OR order TEAS V Study Guide and 2 online practice Assessments for $92.00 + Shipping & Handling)
  • TEAS Transcripts

Only a few applicants “naturally” are able to sit for the TEAS V and earn high scores. Most applicants practice answering questions using a timer. Why?

  • The TEAS V has a time limit of 209 minutes with four-option multiple choice questions
  • Reading is 58 minutes with 48 questions
  • Mathematics is 51 minutes with 34 questions
  • Science is 66 minutes with 54 questions
  • English and Language Usage is 34 minutes with 34 questions

Emily Gonzales

Sophomore, Pre-Nursing

My hometown is Sugar Land, TX.
The highlight of my time at CTX is definitely meeting new people. I was a little nervous about meeting my roommate, but after living with her for a couple weeks, we noticed that we are very similar. I love being part of a Christian university because it allows me to meet people that believe in the same religious beliefs as I do. I have met so many people that share the same values as I do and I don’t believe I would have had this chance at any other university.
I think CTX is unique because of the campus. I love that we are in such a convenient location. Lake Travis and downtown Austin are not that far from campus, so there is a little bit of everything to do. the interpersonal relationships that students form with professors. The faculty and staff genuinely care about you as a person.
The professor that impacted me the most is everyone! I can’t say that just one professor has impacted me the most. Each professor I have had has made such an impact on my life. Each one has taken time out to help me in class and outside of class as well. Each professor has made it their responsibility to make sure that I understand all the material taught in class. They all take the time out of their busy schedule to make sure that I succeed, and I feel very blessed to be apart of such a caring University.
My advice to incoming pre-nursing students is to take everything a semester at a time. I would say that if they look at all the courses they will have to take, there is a high chance they might overwhelm themselves. Plan out which courses they will take during each semester and then start from there. Study hard and give it your all!
The professors, faculty and my peers constantly remind me that God is always there for all of us. Being a part of Concordia helps me remind myself as well as others that we can be open about our faith and we should spread the word for our Lord and Savior. There is such a positive attitude shared all across campus and that helps me be positive and be a better person and a Christian Leader.
